ICE is an international membership organisation that promotes and advances civil engineering around the world. ICE is a qualifying body, a centre for the exchange of specialist knowledge, and a provider of resources to encourage innovation and excellence in the profession worldwide.

Their purpose is to qualify professionals engaged in civil engineering, exchange knowledge and best practice, and promote their contribution to society.

ICE members help to create the structures and systems that sustain society. Achilles UVDB is the community for the UK utilities industry. It enables the utilities sector to use Achilles' proven supplier pre-qualification system to manage risk within the supply chain and comply with EU regulations. Launched in 1996, Achilles UVDB is the largest Achilles community that is also used by the airports and ports sector. Achilles Link-up is the community supporting the UK rail industry's pre-qualification scheme. Achilles Link-up is recognised as best practise in qualifying suppliers, and is used extensively by buyer organisations to manage risk and comply with legislation. Achilles Link-up is governed by a RISQS (Rail Industry Supplier Qualification Scheme) Board compromising of cross-industry representation, and the RISQS Board members contribute to the development of the service. http://www.achilles.com
